IRATA Rope Access Training Overview:

General Requirements:

IRATA Rope Access candidates must be 18 or older. For Level 1 training, a reasonable level of physical fitness and a "head for heights" is essential.

IRATA ROPE ACCESS LEVEL 1 (ENTRY LEVEL):

The Level 1 course is the entry point for technicians pursuing a career in rope access. This 4 day training, followed by 1 day of assessment, equips technicians with foundational skills, including inspecting personal equipment, correctly using rope access equipment, and basic rope access operations. Level 1 technicians work under the supervision of a Level 3.

Requirements for Level 1:

No previous rope access qualifications or experience is required for Level 1 training course.

IRATA ROPE ACCESS LEVEL 2:

Level 2 is an intermediate-level course for those aspiring to become IRATA Level 3. The 4 day training, followed by 1 day of assessment, covers advanced rescues, performing various rope access tasks, and knowledge of legislation, safety requirements, and quality assurance procedures. Level 2 technicians work under the supervision of a Level 3.

Requirements for Level 2:

Hold an IRATA Level 1 certificate for at least one year
Minimum of 1,000 logged hours at Level 1

IRATA ROPE ACCESS LEVEL 3:

Level 3 qualifies technicians to work as Rope Access Supervisors. This comprehensive course covers supervising projects, understanding relevant work techniques and legislation, advanced rescue techniques, and more.

Hold an IRATA Level 2 certificate for at least one year
Minimum of 1,000 logged hours at Level 2
